Mind Your P's & Q's Around the Globe

When asking the question of how technology and internationalization affected business research, you might think it is an easy answer of "duh" it has changed things in every way...however it really isn't that easy.

Now that the world has become a small small place due to technology and an extremely large world for businesses that want to go further and do more than before.  Where a company was only able to sell there products on a semi large scale due to geographical limitations, now those limitations are reduced to where does the internet reach and can I ship to said locations?!

The part where it gets tricky is the need for organizations to remember that due to internationalization it isn't as simple as click on the internet, buy product and ship there.  Cultural differences, legal issues that can change by country and shipping/product restrictions that are regulated by governments can all be different roadblocks.  And, to dig a bit deeper, if an organization wants to advertise internationally there are more and more considerations to take in so not to offend, insult and/or cause international incidents.

Of course the opportunities are limitless and there is no end in site for how far your success or business growth can go, it isn’t without risk.  When you take your business outside of your backyard and span across oceans you really have to dig in and do your research and make sure that you are going to be a welcome addition to a new community, that you can be welcome in without incident and that the risk of growth doesn’t over take the reward that you should be reaping vs. finding yourself in legal issues and out of business.

They say that if you take educated risks the rewards will be plentiful - but when the risk is all that you feel, the fall is faster than you can imagine.
