Since we have come to the end of the quarter and our papers/presentations are done it is time to think about the publication of our topics...and this has been the hardest thing for me to do thus far. I don't know how the best method of publication to get the word of my topic our to the public is.
Since I am big in the LinkedIn world and host my own website that focuses around women and running, I am thinking that publishing it online is going to be my best bet to get discussion started. I know that the best thing for my topic is to start discussion, get a dialog going about feminism and the world of technology and how things have change and/or stayed the same. Since this is a global issue I am hoping that my LinkedIn profile will house said discussion and lead to further dialog regarding this issue that will be around for years if not decades to come.
I think that http://blogforresearchlm.blogspot.com/ was the blog that hit me the most and I was able to most relate with. Education is a huge issue that is always on my mind since I have two kids that will be the next educated generation of this country, but, if they are unable to get the technology driven education that they need to have the basic understanding of the ins and outs of what technology is and what it can do for you, then how are we really helping them?
I found it continually interesting how it was discussed how integration of technology is hindered and integration is haulted. I always thought that it was just a funding issues, it never dawned on me that it would be fear or the unwant to learn and expand what our kids are learning...espically when the new and progressive topics are the exact same skills that are going to help make them successful in the future.
I am definatly going to continually follow this issue because again it effects me, my family and the future of my kids. Since beginning to follow the research from the person who published the link above I have already started diving in and seeing what my school district is doing for my kids and how they are offering more education in the technology field.
I am excited to get my paper out there!
Thanks for a great quarter!!
Meg
